Artelia South Africa Chooses Urgent’s eMaintenance+ to Manage Forecourt Maintenance for Caltex Eastern Cape Marketer
Cloud-based maintenance management software implemented across retail network in drive to deliver highest levels of service.
Urgent Technology today announced that facilities management consultancy and service provider, Artelia South Africa, has selected Urgent Technology’s eMaintenance+ software to deliver maintenance management for its client, Caltex Eastern Cape Marketer (CECM).
eMaintenance+ automates maintenance task handling, promotes contractor performance management, and provides real-time visibility of the end-to-end maintenance process for all stakeholders through a single system.
With over 100 franchised petrol forecourts in South Africa’s Eastern Cape region, CECM is the largest of eleven Chevron marketers in the country and the largest fuel distributor in Chevron’s Africa-Middle East-Pakistan region. The company has grown quickly and currently holds the second largest share of the fuel market in the Eastern Cape.
CECM is responsible for site operations throughout its network and manages maintenance and contractors on behalf of the franchisees. As the company’s franchisee network grew, its existing manual, paper-based process and call centre approach to maintenance management no longer met the needs of the business.
“CECM turned to Artelia South Africa to identify and implement an efficient, easy to use, online maintenance system that could be scaled according to the requirements aligned with the growing business footprint whilst supporting CECM to achieve its mission of ‘One brand, one image, one service level’ ethos” said Clive Berlyn, CECM CEO.
“Improving contractor management, digitising maintenance data for reporting, management information and informed decision making, and simplifying maintenance management at site level were essential elements when identifying the right software for CECM,” said David Rose, Managing Director, Artelia South Africa.

The resulting complexity required a full-time employee to manage the associated invoicing. eMaintenance+ is highly configurable, including at site level, which means these processes can be automated, freeing up skilled resources to focus on more profitable tasks.”

A Caltex Branded Marketer is an independent investment partner with Chevron and has bought the right to act as wholesalers of fuel on Chevron’s behalf. It is responsible for all Caltex petrol stations in its territory.
The Branded Marketer owns the sites and leases them to a retailer-operator, and/or has supply agreements with retailer-owned and operated Caltex stations.
The Branded Marketer wholesales and supplies fuel and related products to the Caltex retailers in its region and supports them with training, quality assurance, business acumen, marketing, and compliance issues.
